Established in 1963, the Institute of Experimental Surgery’s morphological department evolved into the Department of Histochemistry and Electron Microscopy, focusing on cardiovascular research, heart protection, and molecular hydrogen therapy through global collaborations.

EUH2, a non-profit, advances health research, technical support, education, and training on molecular hydrogen, ensuring accurate interpretation and ethical practices to improve patient quality of life and promote interdisciplinary cooperation in Europe.
The hydrogen medical research team led by Professor Xuemei Ma at Beijing University of Technology consists of four teachers and more than 30 doctoral and master’s students. It is one of the earliest teams to engage in hydrogen medical research in China and is currently one of the few teams specifically dedicated to this field.
Applied Bioenergetics Lab is an inventive, dynamic and multidisciplinary research facility. It covers research topics from the fields of basic, translational and clinical bioenergetics. The main objective of our lab is to design and scrutinize innovative therapeutics that protect and upgrade mitochondrial bioenergetics and metabolism in health and disease.
Huikang is a non-profit organization founded in 2017 by Professor’s Xuejun Sun, Zhimin Kang, and Guanzhen Yu. It focuses on promoting hydrogen medicine in China through annual national academic conferences in Shanghai, various online and offline science popularization events, and collaborative training of hydrogen medical science educators with the Chinese Association of Social Workers.
The International Hydrogen Standards Association (IHSA), established in 2016, unites global experts to set standards for molecular hydrogen therapy, advancing scientific research, guiding government and education, ensuring industry responsibility, and protecting consumers through certification criteria.
